The Ministry of Industry and the Federation of Thai Industries have urged business operators wanting to survive in a highly-competitive world to adjust to a new technology-based economic era.
Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Siriruj Chulakaratana confirmed today that the government acknowledged the need to restructure the country's industries to ready them for the Thailand 4.0 era, which focuses on the use of new technologies and innovations.
Mr. Siriruj said today the government had issued a number of laws to support investment in technology and innovation-based industries as well as other high-potential businesses in the Eastern Economic Corridor.
He added that the government also had a policy to strengthen small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in all respects, such as marketing, production, access to credit, and reduction of red tape.
President of the Federation of Thai Industries, Suphan Mongkolsuthee meanwhile commented that the industrial sector needed to change its business strategy and adapt to new technology that would replace the old approaches to better retain its competitiveness.
