The Election Commission has taken on new allies in the fight against corruption.
Representatives of the EC on Monday signed a memorandum of cooperation with representatives of the Secretariat of the Senate, the Secretariat of the House of Representatives and the Office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission to demonstrate its political determination to eradicate corruption and fraud.
All four allies have declared their intention to engage in a campaign to encourage political parties and politicians to adopt the anti-graft resolution, before the election and taking office.
They also all agreed to announce their stance via media platforms and to declare measures to promote ethics, while persuading the public to monitor the activities of political parties and politicians in order to help Thailand achieve political transparency, which is in line with the National Strategy and the national reform plan.
Member of the National Legislative Assembly Noraniti Setthabut, who is also the chairman of the political party development committee, said on Monday that political parties under democratic rule should be more accepting of public participation and accountability concerning any problems stemming from a weak political party system.
