The Ministry of Commerce is poised to introduce low-income earners in 20 provinces to 100 franchise businesses as part of the government’s effort to create jobs and boost income among the poor.
The Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, has selected a total of 100 small franchise brands to be featured in its upcoming franchise fair, which is scheduled to take place in 20 provinces nationwide, starting late this month. The fair aims to present franchise opportunities to low-income people, especially holders of state welfare cards.
Each of the participating franchise businesses requires initial investment capital of just 10,000-50,000 baht. With the support of state-run financial institutions, such as the Government Savings Bank and the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives, those who purchase franchises at the fair will also be entitled to low-interest loans. Moreover, the private sector will provide them with vending spaces, along with special discounts on rent for those wishing to open their shops at Bangchak stations, Tesco Lotus and Big C Supercenter.
The franchise fair will first be organized in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima from June 22-25 before moving on to the other 19 provinces. The last event will take place in Lop Buri in early December this year. The fair is expected to help build careers for 20,000 low-income and unemployed people.
