Govt OKs assistance framework to help farmers

The Policy and Measures Committee to Help Farmers has approved in principle a framework of sustainable assistance for Thai farmers.

Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak presided over the committee’s meeting on Thursday. Apart from approving the assistance framework, the committee revised a process of requesting the use of funds from the Mutual Fund for Farmers. Government units asking for the funds are required to submit their projects to the fund’s managing committee at least 90 days before a new fiscal year starts.

Furthermore, the fund’s manager must submit an annual action plan to the fund’s managing committee at least 60 days prior for approval, and to the Ministry of Finance at least 30 days before a new fiscal year starts.

The assistance framework includes financial assistance for farmers with urgent problems as well as those who produce agricultural products. The Policy and Measures Committee to Help Farmers will discuss the framework with the ministry in detail again before providing assistance in line with the framework.

ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. DPM Prawit:Govt yet to set dates for political party meetings

The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has insisted it is not yet time for the government to set clear dates for meetings with political parties or to lift the ban on political activities.
