The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is expanding Bueng Suea Dam Pond to increase water retention areas used for the prevention of flooding on main roads in central Bangkok.
The BMA on Thursday announced the progress of a project to dredge Bueng Suea Dam Pond located at Makkasan Train Station in Ratchathewi district. The pond is being turned into a “Kaem Ling” water retention area as part of the BMA’s plan to prevent flooding on Phetchaburi, Asoke Din Daeng and Kamphaeng Phet 7 Roads.
Water stored in Bueng Suea Dam will be pumped into the Saen Saeb canal and Bueng Makkasan before entering the Makkasan drainage tunnel into the Chao Phraya River. The pond dredging project has progressed by more 80% and is expected to be completed around 30 June.
