Min of Energy organizes ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2018

The Ministry of Energy has organized ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2018 to adopt alternative energy sources in response to rising energy prices, with the target being to increase the proportion of renewable energy to 30 percent.

ASEAN Sustainable Energy Week 2018 kicked off at BITEC, Bang Na with Minister of Energy Siri Jirapongphan inaugurating the event with a speech on the country's energy future. He said that rising energy prices due to increasing demand and falling supply have prompted policies on adopting alternative energy sources and progressive planning for energy stability. The event will help the country meet its energy transformation demands in all regards while the Ministry of Energy is currently developing a new renewable and alternative energy plan for 2015-2022 to keep up with the latest developments worldwide.

The event is being held on the concept of "E-Mobility Smart Grid Smart City," displaying state-of-the-art technology and latest energy innovations by pavilions from China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Switzerland, the United States and over 1,200 industry-leading brands across the globe.

Furthermore, the Energy Conservation Promotion Fund and the Energy Policy and Planing Office are displaying Thailand's energy potential under its Energy 4.0 policy, with both public and private entities showcasing their work. Thailand's exhibitions will demonstrate the potential of Thailand to be a leader in alternative energy and prepare for a low carbon society according to the Thailand 4.0 agenda. The event will run until June 9 and is expected to attract more than 30,000 participants from 45 countries.

NLA’s vice president denies claims of legislative support for government

A vice president of the National Legislative Assembly has denied claims that the legislature has been trying to help members of the current government in the next election. Mr. Peerasak Porjit, the Second Vice President of the NLA, went with a number of members of the legislature on Monday to meet over 1,000 farmers, who represent growers from 67 provinces, to collect opinions for the drafting of the Rice Act. Thais attend events to celebrate Royal Birthday

Thais from all walks of life have attended events celebrating the 86th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign. Residents of Wiang sub-district of the capital district of Phayao province gave alms to 87 monks at Wat Si Khom Kham, marking the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s birthday. In Uthai Thani province, residents gathered to give offerings to monks in the early hours of August 12th. Donning blue, the color of Her Majesty’s birthday, a number of residents also made merit in dedication to Her Majesty the Queen by releasing fish into the Sakae Krang river basin. Similarly in Chaiyaphum Province, residents took part in an almsgiving ceremony for 87 monks and novices. ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. The five member countries are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand, which also constitute the CLMVT cluster. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony. The summit is centered on approaches to carrying out the ACMECS Master Plan 2019-2023. The plan is the first of its kind to highlight infrastructure connectivity among the five member nations, as well as joint development of financial regulations and human resources.
