The National Security Council has no problem with a plan by pro-election activists to hold a gathering this week.
NSC Secretary-General Gen. Wallop Raksanoh said on Tuesday that the planned gathering on June 7 in front of the United Nations building in Bangkok to announce the activists’ direction in pursuing political activities should not be a problem or a concern about possible violence.
Gen. Wallop said that the situation would be handled in accordance with the law and in the presence of security officers as has always been the case.
He added that the upcoming rally should be regarded merely as a continued effort to highlight the intentions of the pro-election activists.
The NSC Secretary-General went on to say that the public gathering may be good as it can help the public find alternatives.
Regarding the announcement of the Secretary-General of the People's Democratic Reform Foundation, Mr. Suthep Thaugsuban, to return to politics and to travel to meet with supporters across the country, Gen. Wallop said that such a development would most likely happen as the country is preparing for elections and it should not create any problem.
