The government has yet to approve a double-tier pension for NCPO officials, said Government Spokesman Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd.
He said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha downplayed news reports of the government's approval for the double-tier pension for some 600 NCPO officials as misinformed and that the matter is yet to be finalized.
He said such promotion was proposed by the NCPO, which the government has acknowledged and ordered the NCPO and security agencies to review it.
The government spokesman said it would be considered according to the rules of annual pensions, while those officials have been working hard to restore peace and order of the country, receiving complaints, promoting national reconciliation, and solve urgent issues such as illegal fishing, human trafficking, and corruption.
He said the premier had advised that those responsible officials be compensated accordingly to their dedication and accomplishments, with regard to the available budget and protocols.
