NLA surveys public opinion in Bangkok

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has launched an ‘NLA Meets the People’ project to address public concerns in communities across Bangkok.

NLA Vice President Veerasak Pochit said during the NLA meeting that the project was developed to promote better communication between the government and Thai people especially over the promulgation of laws.

Bangkok was the last place to be surveyed by the NLA whose members have helped Thai people relay concerns to responsible government units during the regional survey.

The NLA will also focus on the implementation of the government’s sustainable Thai idealism project in Bangkok in order to solve social issues in a sustainable way.

Those involved in the ‘NLA Meets the People’ project revealed in the meeting that Bangkokians want to be able to use a health insurance card at any hospital across the capital city.

They also want more efforts to be taken to deal with issues related to drug abuse, traffic congestion, flooding, clogged canals and soil erosion.

According to the draft law, rice buyers will have to register themselves and sellers will have to produce receipts while a system will be set up to collect information for a rice database. The NLA expects the new law to be ready for submission to the main assembly by August 20 before it goes through a normal process. When asked if the new law might appear to be an attempt to help garner support for the current...
