A vice president of the National Legislative Assembly has brushed aside claims that the legislature has been spending excessively on its Meet-the-People policy.
The Second Vice President of the NLA, Mr. Peerasak Porjit said today that he is satisfied with the result of the NLA’s Meet-the-People policy, for which the allocated budget has been disbursed in a prudent and worthwhile manner, without affecting the budget of any related local or provincial state offices.
Mr. Peerasak insisted that the policy was initiated to help the people and not to raise the burden on any state agencies.
When asked about criticism of the allocation of over 10 million baht for the project, Mr. Peerasak said that the actual budget was set at eight million baht and at this point some three million baht remains.
He went on to say that every baht spent on the policy, which has taken the NLA to all 76 provinces, has been more than worthwhile and should not be calculated literally like the government’s budget disbursement.
