The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) has joined the Bureau of the Budget in holding a forum titled “The Future of Thailand: Research for the People”.
Representatives from various organizations attended the session which was organized to discuss how to carry out and apply research that is beneficial to the nation and effective at dealing with its issues. Matters raised at the forum included inequality, access to research and innovations and national development.
Deputy Prime Minister, ACM Prajin Junthong, chaired the opening of the forum and gave a lecture titled “Modern Era Research Reaches the People”, saying research and innovations are key to economic and social development and that the government has prioritized such undertakings as part of the Thailand 4.0 agenda.
ACM Prajin called for research and development that will strengthen Thailand and its competitiveness. He said citizens must be able to access research and innovations that are responsive to their needs, giving examples such as studies that can be used by farmers to add value to their crops while cutting capital costs. Research for commercial, state and social benefits were also highlighted.
