Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has reiterated that the Thai Niyom Yang Yuen or Sustainable Thai Idealism initiative is not a mechanism for the current administration to gain public support ahead of the forthcoming election.
Addressing the nation this week, the prime minister offered his thanks to politicians for their understanding and cooperation while stressing the necessity for all sides to work together towards reform, unity, and reconciliation.
He added that the national strategic plan outlined by the government should be followed in order to prepare the country for global challenges in the future.
The 20-year plan is merely about moving the country forward and creating stability, prosperity, and sustainability, he noted, dismissing claims that the plan has been designed to extend or prolong the military’s power beyond the election.
He went on to deny an allegation that the Sustainable Thai Idealism initiative is part of a government election campaign to seek public support ahead of the national polls.
