Public hearings for the new draft National Education Act are expected to take place soon.
The independent committee in charge of the reform of Thailand’s education on Tuesday held a meeting to discuss the drafting of the new National Education Act, particularly the amendment of some key parts related to the reform of teachers and teaching management, along with education for children and a vocational study.
The meeting confirmed that the revamp of the education system will be in line with the intent of the new Constitution and the implementation of the Thailand 4.0 policy, which put an emphasis on a lifetime learning process and a detachment from classrooms, to underline the importance of the experience and knowledge of administrators of educational institutions and the development of educators.
According to the committee, public hearings for the new draft National Education Act will begin on June 15 on its website before a forum is held on June 22 to hear ideas from the people concerned.
It said that the draft law would likely be presented to the National Legislative Assembly after the public hearing process is completed and that the new version of the law should come into effect, tentatively by December.
