The Ministry of Culture has prepared Ramayana performances to mark the 70th anniversary of Thai-Myanmar diplomatic relations.
The four act performance will include the epic’s battle scene and will take place in three cities of Myanmar between June 19 and 23, the period in which Myanmar and Thailand will celebrate the founding of their diplomatic ties.
Minister of Culture Weera Rojpojanarat explained today that the Ramayana is a high form of art and performance that has been revered for many generations and has become a symbol of Thailand. He noted the three performances in Myanmar have already seen a large number of tickets sold. The intention is to have the cultural exchange enhance relations between the two countries in all regards, including tourism and economics.
The first performance on June 19 will take place in Yangon before moving to Naypyidaw on June 21 and Mandalay on June 23.
