The Thai Consulate-General in Kunming, China has hosted a seminar for Thai and Chinese higher education institutions to discuss cooperation in railway studies and exchanges of students and educational personnel.
The academic seminar was presided over by Ms Nattaporn Nithimontri, Consul-General of Thailand in Kunming, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Thailand and Hunan province of China in elevating the standard of railways education.
Among the attendees were representatives of 15 universities in Thailand and China’s Central South University and Hunan Vocational College of Railway Technology, which are both recognized as having expertise in railway studies. Members of the two Chinese institutions, on this occasion invited their Thai counterparts to send over students and educational personnel to study in a short or long-term exchange program.
However, as most courses offered by both institutions are conducted in Chinese, consideration is being given to the idea of starting more English and Thai-language courses in order to accommodate students from Thailand.
