Thai Airways International (THAI) has signed an agreement with Rolls-Royce on the support of the airline's Rolls-Royce engine maintenance facility establishment in Thailand.
The Deputy Permanent Secretary for Transport, Peraphon Thawornsupacharoen, presided over the signing ceremony of an agreement between THAI and Rolls-Royce on Thursday (June 7th).
Under this agreement, Rolls-Royce will provide support to THAI on the renovation of its aircraft maintenance facility at Don Mueang airport in Bangkok as a maintenance center for Rolls-Royce's TRENT engines, expanding the company's TRENT Care Network, and allowing THAI to increase the capacity of fleet enlargement with aircrafts using Rolls-Royce's engines.
THAI Acting President Usanee Sangsingkeo said the national flag carrier now has some 80 wide body aircrafts in its fleet, with about 50 of which using engines from Rolls-Royce, meaning the maintenance support from Rolls-Royce will help expand the capacity of the airline's maintenance team.
The improved facility will be able to serve maintenance work of TRENT 700 and TRENT 1000 engines from customers across the region. The facility is expected to open in early 2019.
