The Cabinet has approved an exemption of medical expenses for low-income earners carrying state welfare cards.
Following the Cabinet meeting, Mr Natporn Jatusripitak, Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office Minister, disclosed that a green light has been given to the Finance Ministry’s proposal for a waiver of health service fees stemming from the 30-baht universal healthcare scheme for the 11.4 million state welfare card holders in accordance with the National Health Security Act 2002.
The objective of the medical fee waiver is aimed at helping lower the cost of living for the poor. Previously, only 3.6 million senior citizens aged above 60 were entitled to such a privilege.
