The Department of Skills Development and the Thai International Freight Forwarders Association have organized a logistics training program for university graduates in accordance with the policy to reduce unemployment.
During a meeting with the network on labor quality improvement, the Department of Skills Development (DSD) held a ceremony to present certificates to people who had completed its logistics training program. The participants were new graduates with no employment history who came from various institutions across the country.
This year, there were over 200 trainees in the program. They were taught about business ethics in the fields of logistics and international trade, customs procedures, product packaging and sea and air shipping. They received two months of theoretical lessons and another two months of on-site training. After completion, all of the trainees have been employed by affiliated companies of the Thai International Freight Forwarders Association, working in various positions related to logistics.
Deputy Director-General of the DSD, Thawat Benchatikul revealed that the department has prepared a budget of six million baht for the program in 2019, which is expected to produce 300 workers for the logistics industry.
