DPM Chatchai Sarikulya visits Songkhla villagers

Deputy Prime Minister Chatchai Sarikulya visited Songkhla province to deliver development policy for the southern region and encourage all sides to implement the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

The deputy premier presided over the policy delivery ceremony for the integrated development campaign in the southern region.

In the ceremony attended by Deputy Provincial Governor of Songkhla Kajornsak Jareonsopha, the deputy premier highlighted the importance of coordination between all agencies to prevent redundancy and conflict, ensuring all projects will follow the national strategy and provincial group development plan, especially in the southern region which has high tourism and agriculture potentials.

He said His Majesty the late King Rama IX's Sufficiency Economy Philosophy should be implemented in all development campaigns to help improve the livelihood of villagers, especially farmers, by allowing them to have sufficient and sustainable occupations through the adaptation of their farming methods to include more types of plant, as well as the fisheries business which should be free from illegal practices and maintain the availability of natural resources for people of newer generations.

He stressed on the importance of flood management where all sides should implement flood prevention plan which utilizes Monkey's Cheeks water retention areas, creating flow obstructions, improving warning systems, analyzing data to manage the risk, as well as improving the public health system.

He said the annual budget plan which complies with the national and provincial strategies will help ensure concrete outcomes from these projects, which will lead to the improvement in the southern people's quality of life.

Thais attend events to celebrate Royal Birthday

Thais from all walks of life have attended events celebrating the 86th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign. Residents of Wiang sub-district of the capital district of Phayao province gave alms to 87 monks at Wat Si Khom Kham, marking the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s birthday. In Uthai Thani province, residents gathered to give offerings to monks in the early hours of August 12th. Donning blue, the color of Her Majesty’s birthday, a number of residents also made merit in dedication to Her Majesty the Queen by releasing fish into the Sakae Krang river basin. ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. The five member countries are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand, which also constitute the CLMVT cluster. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony. The summit is centered on approaches to carrying out the ACMECS Master Plan 2019-2023. The plan is the first of its kind to highlight infrastructure connectivity among the five member nations, as well as joint development of financial regulations and human resources.
