The Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICT) has presented a group of bird’s nest collectors with a plaque of honor in recognition of their efforts to save the 13 members of Moo Pa Academy youth football team who were trapped in Tham Luang Cave throughout the month of July.
The 18 members of the bird’s nest harvesting group from Trang province took part in the rescue effort in Mae Sai District of Chiang Rai province. They have now been presented with a plaque of honor and commemorative badges by the Sheikul Islam of Thailand, Aziz Phitakkumpon in recognition of their exemplary contribution and inter-religion compassion.
Head of Koh Libong Wildlife Preserve, Chaiyapruek Weerawong explained that the bird’s nest collectors traveled to Chiang Rai with the intention of using their cave traversing skills to try and find an access shaft to the stranded youth football team, taking only one hour to decide to set off on the mission, and taking only their bravery and skills with them.
