Nakhon Sri Thammarat province is pushing forward the development of its tourism, given positive results in terms of visitors and revenues.
Nakhon Sri Thammarat Provincial Governor Chamroen Tipayapongtada said all sectors in the southern province, including government agencies, private firms, local administrations, and communities, are working on the promotion of community based tourism by promoting unique local identities which can generate more income to the province and communities.
Nakhon Sri Thammarat has seen the biggest tourism growth among other 'secondary city' provinces in the national tourism promotion campaign. The province last year welcomed some 3 million visitors, with the number increasing by 10 percent this year. Revenue from tourism this year so far has already reached 3 billion baht, with more 3-4 stars hotel opened and local shops improving their products and services to better attract customers.
The province is now working on the decoding of 4DNA to find local identities in 23 districts, and use these identities to create a brand which each district can promote. The province will also be opening a new train route for sightseeing tours in the future.
The provincial governor has stressed cooperations from all sides will help improve the province for a better future, adding that the provincial office always take opinions from all sides into consideration ensuring the development of the city will help promote safety, peace, better livelihood, and better confidence among visitors and investors.
