The Ministry of Public Health has cooperated with its network partners to steer the anti-non-communicable disease (NCD) policy to reduce fatality rates associated with these diseases.
The Public Health Minister, Prof. Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, opened the NCDs Forum 2018 on Wednesday (Aug 8th). The forum was organized by the Ministry of Public Health under the concept "Together, Let's Beat NCDs".
Prof. Piyasakol said NCDs are considered an urgent public health threat that needs to be addressed, as they have accounted for about 75 percent of deaths in Thailand.
The most common NCDs are heart and lung diseases, strokes, cancers, and diabetes.
The government has made great efforts to encourage people to improve their health habits. It hopes that Thailand will succeed in reducing the number of patients with NCDs and become a model for other countries regarding its health insurance system.
