Deputy Consul-General of the Royal Thai Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Abdulrahim Datumada said the government is ready to accommodate Thai Hajj pilgrims and ensure their safety during their pilgrimage to Mecca.
According to the Deputy Consul-General, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been the main agency responsible for accommodating Thai Hajj pilgrims on their visit to Mecca where Muslims from all over the world converge each year.
Saudi Arabia has given Thailand a Hajj quota of 13,000 people per year. As many as 7,851 Muslims from Thailand have already made it to Saudi Arabia. More than 5,800 have already reached the holy city of Mecca while the rest of them are still in Madinah, another holy site.
Groups of Thai officials from the Royal Thai Consulate in Jeddah have also been deployed to Madinah and Jeddah Airports to accommodate Thai pilgrims.
