The Amnat Charoen Provincial Administrative Organization is currently hosting the ‘Dhamma-Kaset’ Festival, offering travelers a chance to visit the province’s various farms and try their produce.
The annual event is being held in Pathum Ratchawongsa district. The opening ceremony took place at Mae Saen Karan Longan Farm in Na Wa sub-district. A number of local and foreign visitors attended the ceremony. Vendors are offering organic produce, such as longans, rambutans, and other tropical delights at the site.
The festival is part of the ‘Dhamma-Kaset’ initiative of the province, which seeks to establish itself as a city of organic agriculture and herbs. This is the first time Amnat Charoen has held such a community tourism campaign, allowing visitors to experience the agricultural atmosphere of rice fields, farms and other sites nature has to offer.
The festival covers Kham Phon, Huai and Na Wa sub-districts. The Amnat Charoen Provincial Administrative Organization is planning to provide homestay services in the future, with an emphasis on offering a ‘slow living' experience in the ‘Dhamma-Kaset’ city style. The organizer is hoping that the plan can be developed into a model for other provincial administrative units to study.
