Cabinet acknowledges cultural development plan for Lower North

The Cabinet has been informed by the Ministry of Culture of its guidelines for cultural development in lower northern provinces of Thailand, with an aim to promote culture as an income generator for local communities.

Following the mobile Cabinet meeting in Nakhon Sawan province, Culture Minister Weera Rojpotchanarat revealed that the Cabinet has acknowledged his ministry’s goal to generate jobs and income in the Lower North through the cultural development plan for 2018-2021.

Under the plan, historical sites, religious places, museums, communities and learning centers are set to undergo development while museums of history will be set up in Phichit, Nakhon Sawan and Uthai Thani. The standards of local products will be raised while local Likay artists will be encouraged to form a network in a bid to preserve the ancient art. On this occasion, it was proposed that Phichit and Nakhon Sawan be established as the cities of Likay.

The Culture Ministry has been assigned by the Cabinet to join hands with the Department of Tourism and the Royal Forest Department to come up with details on the project to develop Phichit Historical Park, assess the progress of the cultural market and cultural road and support the continuation of historical excavation in the area.

Development of payment system in PTT gas stations

In the future, those who use the services of PTT petrol stations will be able to make convenient, fast, and safe payments through the PTT e-Wallet system. PTT and Kasikornbank recently signed an agreement to develop the PTT e-Wallet system. The system is expected to be launched in the last quarter of this year in keeping with the national e-payment policy of the government, which encourages more use of financial technology. Prayers in tribute to Royal Household taking place this Friday

A prayer service is to be staged this Friday August 17, 2018 at Dusit Palace in tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign on the occasion of her birthday anniversary, and His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. His Majesty the King has graciously entrusted the Supreme Patriarch with leading 195 monks in performing the prayer while calling for the important Buddhist relic Phra Buddha Norasih to be the central Buddhist image.
