Chiang Mai promotes inclusive architectural designs in tourism

The northern province of Chiang Mai has introduced universal design projects for the tourism sector, promoting inclusivity in tourism for people of all ages and persons with disabilities.

An official from Chiang Mai Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, Jiraporn Chaoprayoon Yamamoto, said her agency has been promoting the universal design projects and the availability of facilities aiding the elders and the disabled at public places and tourism attractions, promoting inclusivity in local tourism businesses.

She said the office has been working with government agencies and private firms in the province through campaigns such as the Model Community campaign, Chiang Mai City of World Heritage campaign, Chiang Mai City of Universal Design campaign, and Chiang Mai City of Tourism for All campaign, to promote tourism activities suitable for elders and persons with disabilities, strengthening the province's position as a major tourism destination, and supporting the Thailand 4.0 development model.

The office has also provided a Universal Design workshop joined by persons with disabilities and their caretakers, elders, local administrative staff, delegates from shops and hotels, and the management of tourism attractions in the province. The workshop is aimed to promote equality and coexistence using Universal Design which allows facilities to serve all people equally.

NLA’s vice president denies claims of legislative support for government

A vice president of the National Legislative Assembly has denied claims that the legislature has been trying to help members of the current government in the next election. Thais attend events to celebrate Royal Birthday

Thais from all walks of life have attended events celebrating the 86th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign. Residents of Wiang sub-district of the capital district of Phayao province gave alms to 87 monks at Wat Si Khom Kham, marking the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s birthday. In Uthai Thani province, residents gathered to give offerings to monks in the early hours of August 12th. ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. The five member countries are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand, which also constitute the CLMVT cluster. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony. The summit is centered on approaches to carrying out the ACMECS Master Plan 2019-2023.
