The Department of Environmental Quality Promotion has organized a meeting to discuss environmental labels in Thailand to raise consumer awareness and promote an eco-friendly economy.
In its 20-year national strategy, the administration has resolved to create economic gains that are environmentally friendly through sustainable consumption and production. The government seeks to achieve sustainability by educating and encouraging environmental responsibility among consumers.
In order to support eco-friendly goods and services, the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion has initiated a project to label products that have less environmental impact compared to their competitors. It has also held a meeting to discuss ways to promote environmentally friendly production methods and create a database of green products to promote to consumers.
Currently, Thailand has more than 10 environmental labels, such as the green label, the carbon footprint label, and the energy saving label, which includes over 144,000 products and services in Thailand.
The department has also launched a mobile application to connect consumers to environmentally friendly products and enjoy various incentives.
