The Education Minister has confirmed the government’s commitment to tackling corruption in school lunch programs.
Education Minister Dr. Teerakiat Jaroensettasin, today gave an assurance that a lunch fee of 20 baht per student is sufficient, if free of corruption. According to the minister, irregularities in school lunch programs occurred long before the current administration came to power. He confirmed the government’s commitment to cracking down on graft and that authorities have been dispatched to inspect schools. Already, legal action has been pursued against the relevant parties.
Meanwhile, the Education Commission in Nan province has conducted a random audit of the lunch program at Bang Puey School in Sanian subdistrict and found school lunches to be adequately nutritious and hygienic. No irregularities were found in elementary schools in Nan’s Educational Area District 1.
