The Ministry of Public Health has worked with relevant agencies to increase the success rate of medical treatments and establish Thailand as a global hub for precision in medication within five years.
Public Health Minister Dr Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, today indicated that the use of genetic information in medicine helps to accurately diagnose patients and administer the proper treatment, increasing their success rate. The Ministry of Public Health, through the Department of Medical Sciences, has therefore collaborated with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Medical Council of Thailand, universities, and other related agencies to create a first phase action plan on precision medicine.
The action plan coincides with the administration’s Thailand 4.0 development agenda on medicine and public health, which aims to elevate the country’s medical technology to international standards. The plan will also provide patients with access to appropriate medication and innovations in medicine, which will increase the likelihood of successful treatment.
