More than 2,000 perform Aidilfitri prayers in Yala

Various organizations in the southernmost province of Yala have arranged Aidilfitri prayers celebrating the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

More than 2,000 Muslims converged on Yala Youth Center to take part in the prayers today. The activities included a sermon on compromise, an apology rite and the giving of alms and cash to impoverished children.

Governor Anuchit Trakulmututa was present at the venue to join the celebrations. Welcome meals were offered to the attendees. Aidilfitri prayers were also held at local mosques across Yala.

ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. The five member countries are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand, which also constitute the CLMVT cluster. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony. DPM Prawit:Govt yet to set dates for political party meetings

The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has insisted it is not yet time for the government to set clear dates for meetings with political parties or to lift the ban on political activities. Speaking to the press, Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwan asserted that the Kingdom has achieved a certain level of reconciliation.
