The Prime Minister has assured the legislature that the fiscal year 2019 budget expenditures will help steer Thailand towards the goal of sustainable development.
The National Legislative Assembly on Thursday convened a session, which was chaired by Mr. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai.
The main item on the agenda of the sitting was the deliberation of the draft fiscal 2019 budget expenditure law, which was proposed by the Cabinet and involves a total budget of three trillion baht.
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha spent over an hour in explaining the essence of the draft to the NLA while convincing members of the legislature of the necessity for this proposed budget, which is important to sustain efforts to drive Thailand forward and to achieve the goal of sustainable development in accordance with the draft National Strategy.
Gen. Prayut said that the fiscal 2019 budget is equivalent to 17.1 percent of Thailand’s gross domestic product and comprises over 2.26 trillion baht in fixed expenditures, more than 660 billion baht in investment expenditure and some 78.2 billion baht for loan principal repayment.
