Prime Minister Prayut: Death penalty is legitimate and most people agree

The Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, has voiced support for the execution of convicted murderers.

Concerning the execution of a 26-year-old convicted murderer by lethal injection on Monday (June 19th), the Prime Minister said capital punishment is in line with the law, which specifies the death sentence for manslaughter.

Gen. Prayut said most people are also in favor of capital punishment, because it is meant to induce fear in those who are inclined to commit capital crimes.

ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. DPM Prawit:Govt yet to set dates for political party meetings

The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has insisted it is not yet time for the government to set clear dates for meetings with political parties or to lift the ban on political activities.
