The City Pillar Shrine in Yala province is packed at present with residents, and visitors from other areas who are celebrating its anniversary.
The city shrine anniversary celebrations coincide with the annual Red Cross fair which is held for a period of 11 days. The event has brought together more than 100 food outlets and shops selling myriad products. The festival continues until 4rd June.
Public and private organizations have put up exhibitions introducing the public to various aspects of the southernmost province. Event-goers can also enjoy a variety of entertainments by well-known artists and actors.
The event is expected to stimulate the economy of Yala, give southerners the opportunity to relax and fund-raise for the aid activities of Yala Provincial Red Cross Chapter. The security sector has mobilized efforts with different bodies to ensure the people's safety.
