Thai longans launched on China's Tmall.com website

There has been a surge in demands for Thai longans, now being offered for sales via China's Tmall.com website.

Commerce Minister Sontirat Sontijirawong said on Thursday there had been high interest in longan when his ministry organized a business matching event between about 70 Thai food and fruit companies and Tmall.com, China's biggest business-to-consumer retail website under the Alibaba Group.

During this negotiation there was high interest in longans. Orders are expected for 8,000-10,000 tons worth about 200 million baht for sale on Tmall.com, 100% more than last year," he said.

He expected orders to continue to double over the next three years. Chomthong Agricultural Cooperative Co and Mataproduct Co in Chiang Mai province were given the job of gathering longan for sales via Tmall.com.

ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. DPM Prawit:Govt yet to set dates for political party meetings
