Tourism unfazed by fuel price hike

The Tourism Authority of Thailand says the recent fuel price hike does not affect the tourism industry, while maintaining the tourism revenue forecast at three trillion baht.

TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn has confirmed that the tourism sector doesn’t feel the impact of the rising fuel prices as demonstrated by the 15% increase in the number of foreign tourists and the 20% increase in tourism revenue.

The governor is confident that Thailand will earn no less three trillion baht in tourism revenue during 2018.

To further boost the industry, the TAT will host “Thailand Travel Mart Plus 2018” (TTM+2018) in Pattaya City, Chon Buri Province, from June 13th to 15th. The event will be supported by local entrepreneurs, governmental agencies, and nearly 300 tourism related businesses from 48 countries around the world such as Lebanon, Australia, India, and the United States.

Taking the theme “A Million Shades of Romance,” the TTM+2018 is expected to generate 1.4 billion baht in cash flow. Visitors especially lovebirds and newlyweds can expect to find a wide range of tour promotions and discounts for their vacations and honeymoons.

NLA’s vice president denies claims of legislative support for government

A vice president of the National Legislative Assembly has denied claims that the legislature has been trying to help members of the current government in the next election. Thais attend events to celebrate Royal Birthday

Thais from all walks of life have attended events celebrating the 86th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit of the Ninth Reign. Residents of Wiang sub-district of the capital district of Phayao province gave alms to 87 monks at Wat Si Khom Kham, marking the auspicious occasion of Her Majesty’s birthday. In Uthai Thani province, residents gathered to give offerings to monks in the early hours of August 12th. Donning blue, the color of Her Majesty’s birthday, a number of residents also made merit in dedication to Her Majesty the Queen by releasing fish into the Sakae Krang river basin. Similarly in Chaiyaphum Province, residents took part in an almsgiving ceremony for 87 monks and novices. Commerce Min sees bright outlook for Hom Mali exports

The Ministry of Commerce is confident that Hom Mali rice exports will continue to expand, especially in the United States, which is Thailand’s largest export market for Hom Mali rice. Deputy Commerce Minister Chutima Bunyapraphasara said last week that during the first six months of 2018, Thailand exported more than 220,000 tons of Hom Mali rice, worth 250 million US dollars, to the United States. The volume represents an increase of 2.8 percent over the same period of last year. Chutima led a trade mission, comprising members of the public and private sectors to the United States, from 22nd to 26th July 2018. The visit was undertaken to publicize Thai rice and boost trade cooperation with US rice importers. With information collected about the Thai-US rice market, the trade mission soon foresaw more opportunities for Thai rice exports to the United States.
