Cabinet approves Higher Education Act

The cabinet on Tuesday (Aug 7th) has approved the Higher Education Act.

The Education Minister, Clin. Prof. Udom Kachintorn, said the approval of the Higher Education Act would lead to the establishment of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. He said the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) is expected endorse its establishment by this November, because the Prime Minister, Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, fully supports the plan.

The new ministry is aimed at supporting the implementation of the government's Thailand 4.0 policy and promote all targeted industries detailed in the 20-year national strategy.

This ministry would also facilitate the introduction of new personnel with skills and abilities that match Thailand's demands of new industries for more research and knowledge.

ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. DPM Prawit:Govt yet to set dates for political party meetings

The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has insisted it is not yet time for the government to set clear dates for meetings with political parties or to lift the ban on political activities.
