Bangkok officials have inspected Khlong Jikkanda Water Pumping Station and water jets installed along Khlong Chao Khun Singh as part of preparations to prevent flooding in the capital.
Deputy Bangkok Governor Chakkaphan Piew-ngam led the inspection, involving agents from the Bureau of Sewage and Drainage, of the water control tower being constructed at Khlong Jikkanda Water Pumping Station, which is situated on Ramkhamhaeng road. The inspection was part of the “Safe Metropolis” strategy in Bangkok, which seeks to ensure the city avoids natural crises through proper management and public involvement. The tower is currently 82 percent complete.
The deputy governor also inspected water jets installed in Khlong Chao Khun Singh, a waterway across from Bodindecha (Sing Singhaseni) School. The jets are to increase the efficiency of drainage if flooding occurs due to heavy rains. The canal has been dredged and equipped with machinery to allow for quicker drainage of water.
