DPM inspects floods in Sakon Nakhon

Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Junthong has personally inspected flood conditions in Sakon Nakhon province, giving flood victims encouragement and necessities.

The Deputy Prime Minister provided survival kits to 100 flood victims in the province yesterday (August 6) as well as granting assistance funds to the families of flood casualties.

Up to 16 districts of the province were hit by flooding in recent days with 86 sub-districts and 513 villages being inundated. So far, 13 districts have reported a return to normalcy amounting to 80 sub-districts or 502 villages. ACM Prajin has nonetheless instructed agencies to divide affected areas into zones and to provide assistance and enact preventive measures including early warnings of risk factors.

The DPM’s inspection included the Sakon Nakhon Municipal Water Treatment Facility, where Governor Wittaya Chanchalong indicated the area had gone from a Yellow Flag alert to a Blue Flag alert, meaning a close watch on the situation around the clock.

The NLA expects the new law to be ready for submission to the main assembly by August 20 before it goes through a normal process.
