Current flooding in the provinces remains manageable despite the overflow of a spillway while all agencies have been prepared for the escalation of the situation, said Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda.
Regarding the current flooding in Phetchaburi province, he said that the situation should not escalate to a crisis despite some river overflows at the spillway, as the drainage system can still draw out water even during the high-tide period over the past few days.
He said local authorities and provincial offices have been instructed to brace for disaster prevention plans with the use of sandbags and water pumps to mitigate the situation and to prepare boats and equipment for rescue operations for any flood victims.
He added all sides have been instructed to constantly evaluate the situation and be well-prepared for any escalation of the situation, while all actions such as the evacuation of villagers will only be carried out under mutual agreement from all sides.
