Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has expressed his concerns over the flood situation in many areas across the country especially the flood surrounding the Kaeng Krachan Dam in Phetchaburi province. The premier instructed all relevant government units to prepare to address the situation and warn people of the dangers associated with flooding.
On Sunday, the PM told the government units involved to stay vigilant to the flood situation and continue to monitor water levels in dams and reservoirs nationwide. The relevant authorities are to assist people in flooded areas in terms of transportation, public health, electricity, food and other essential items, he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy PM and Minister of Defense Prawit Wongsuwon has instructed the armed forces to monitor weather conditions and mobilize forces to help people affected by flooding in 21 provinces, particularly those along the Mekong River. Military units in the flooded areas are urgently pumping out flood waters where possible, while providing assistance to the many affected households.
In 18 provinces where the flood situation has already improved, designated units have started to restore the damaged areas, public utilities and houses.
