A seminar on user friendly architectural design was held on Saturday as part of this year’s Thailand Social Expo at IMPACT Muangthong Thani.
Co-hosted by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the seminar was designed to show participants architectural designs that are universal, accessible, and friendly to all users especially persons with disabilities.
On top of accessibility and user friendliness, the seminar stressed the need for user safety which should be the priority of all architectural designers.
The Ministry Social Development and Human Security is planning to introduce its “Friendly Designed City” project in all Thai provinces as well as make secondary tourist destinations more accessible to the disabled.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports will set aside a budget to build more restrooms, handrails, and curb ramps at tourist places.
