Thailand's Industry Ministry and its supporting agencies have prepared rehabilitation measures for flood-affected manufacturing plants, including maintenance services and fee waivers.
According to Permanent Secretary of the Industry Ministry, Pasu Loharjun, the ministry and its associates will offer maintenance services to businesses suffering from the recent flooding. These services include cleaning of machinery and electrical safety checkups. Furthermore, a team of food safety experts will be formed to give advice to factories about maintaining production standards.
Pasu said flood afflicted business operators would be exempted from machinery registration fees, and a quality control inspection fee among others.
The permanent secretary also mentioned the possibility of postponing payments on financial loans and the provision of additional loan services to SME Bank customers. He elaborated that eligible debtors can pause their payments for up to six months or request an emergency loan for business rehabilitation with a 4.99% interest rate. The scheme has a budget of 15 million baht.
The SME Bank also offers another loan program with a special interest rate to SME operators who need more funding to boost their operations after the flood. This loan is primarily for those who wish to invest in a new business and expand existing ones.
