The event was held on Wednesday (Aug 8th) in the Vithes Samosorn room at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangkok.
The Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Busadee Santipitak, said this event was organized to raise awareness among young people about the significance of the ASEAN and Thailand's readiness to assume the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2019. A variety of activities, such as raising public awareness about environmental issues, were arranged.
The Foreign Affairs Minister, Don Pramudwinai, presided over the ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony and the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Day 2018 celebration. The event was attended by ambassadors of the ASEAN member countries to Thailand and senior officials from the ministry.
