The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) in Trang province has held a youth program to discourage smoking.
NBT Trang Director, Wassana Winothai, said her office has collaborated with the Action and Smoking Health Foundation of Thailand and the Thai Health Promotion Foundation to hold a youth volunteer program for seven high schools. Wassana said NBT Trang recognizes the importance and necessity of addressing the issue of smoking and therefore wishes to encourage youths to participate in the effort to reduce smoking.
The volunteer program is meant to educate students on the 2017 Tobacco Products Control Act, the dangers of e-cigarettes, traditional cigarettes and the marketing tactics of tobacco companies geared towards the younger demographic. Talks were give by Ponthip Sun-Eu, a nurse from Trang Hospital, and Natanapa Tinakorn, former head of the Narathiwat Public Relations Office.
