The President of the National Legislative Assembly has revealed the timeline for the recruitment process to field the final two election commissioners.
NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai said on Wednesday that the first meeting of the committee tasked with recruiting the two additional election commissioners resolved to go with an open application system, which will be conducted between August 14 and 28.
He added that the meeting also reviewed all announcements and regulations related to the recruitment process to ensure that the search will end up with fully-qualified candidates, who must have worked in the field of civil society for no less than 20 years, as required by the Constitution.
Mr. Pornpetch expects the names of the final candidates will be brought up for a vote during proceedings from October 4 to 6, before the list goes before the main NLA assembly for approval.
He added that applicants in the previous round of selections could enter their names again, but those who the NLA had already rejected are not able to do so.
