NLA to receive local election laws in Aug

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will table municipal election related laws this month, according to a deputy prime minister.

DPM for Legal Affairs Wissanu Krea-Ngam, said on Saturday that the vetting committee responsible for drafting and revising municipal election laws has already solicited input from the Election Commission of Thailand, anticipating that the revised versions will be presented to the National Legislative Assembly for review this month.

He added future amendments to the laws can only be decided by the lawmakers.

The deputy premier also refuted an allegation that the administration’s move to organize mobile cabinet retreats is to woo the support of former MPs and local politicians ahead of the national polls, saying its visits to provinces are meant to follow up on the implementation of government policies and projects.

He noted that inviting local politicians to cabinet retreats, shows the government’s willingness to listen to all sides, even the opposition.

ACMECS leaders to implement master plan for 5-year development cooperation

 The leaders of countries participating in the Ayeyawady – Chao Phraya – Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) Summit, vowed to implement a five-year master plan for regional development, before the official opening ceremony this morning. DPM Prawit:Govt yet to set dates for political party meetings

The Deputy Prime Minister for Security Affairs has insisted it is not yet time for the government to set clear dates for meetings with political parties or to lift the ban on political activities.
