Officials of the Department of Highways and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation have launched several anti-flood measures in Petchaburi province.
Local highways officers have erected a center to assist residents suffering from the effects of flooding near the tunnel on Ban Dai It Road and another tunnel in Ban Lat district on Petchakasem Road. The two roads are the main routes leading to the province.
Officials have installed sandbags in the most vulnerable areas and barricaded water from flooding the two roads. They have also assigned officials to monitor the water situation and keep the agencies updated every three hours. Both agencies also indicated that if a flood hits, they will dispatch officers to close some of the roads in the province and facilitate commuters using Petchakasem road.
The Petchaburi Provincial Administrative Organization has also stationed two vehicles on disaster prevention tasks and two other vehicles equipped with water pumps at Petchaburi Bridge. The vehicles will be used to assist the Highways Department in draining water from Petchakasem Road into Petchaburi River when floods occur.
