The Prime Minister has insisted that all political movements still need approval from the National Council for Peace and Order to engage in any political activity.
Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Tuesday that a plan of the Action Coalition for Thailand (ACT) Party of Mr. Suthep Thaugsuban to organize a caravan to recruit members and to prepare for an upcoming general assembly of the party is not permissible yet.
Gen. Prayut said that all politicians still need to seek permission from the NCPO before any political activities can take place.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Prawit Wongsuwon said on Tuesday that any political parties planning activities can proceed with their agenda only if they were agreed to at the government-hosted meeting with all political parties last month.
Gen. Prawit stated that any activities beyond what has been agreed upon will be considered a violation of the NCPO’s order.
