Representative of the Ruampalang Prachachat Thai Party have registered the party as a political entity. Meanwhile, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) maintains its stance on banning political activities, saying it will meet in September to discuss political campaigning directions.
On Wednesday Mom Ratchawong Chatumongol Sonakul, the incoming leader of the party and members of the party management board, submitted the registration document and declared 30 million baht as party capital to the Election Commission. The party has 607 members in total.
Chatumonkol revealed that the party members will later meet to formulate the party’s policies after the NCPO lifts the ban on political activities.
Meanwhile, Army Chief and the NCPO Secretary-General, General Chalermchai Sittisart reaffirmed the council’s position on restrictions on political activities, following a request to campaign made by Suthep Thaugsuban, the co-founder of the Ruampalang Prachachat Thai Party. General Chalermchai made it clear that the council needs to officially lift the ban to allow political parties to campaign.
