The government has held a seminar on cyber security as part of efforts to build awareness against technological dangers and to upgrade cyber security for the future.
At a seminar titled “Awareness… Defending against Disaster and Safeguarding Life and Property,” President of the Asia Pacific Security Association (APSA) and Chairman of the association’s Thai chapter Wallop Kingchansin, pointed out that security applications to protect technology will play a bigger role in Thailand in the future. He stated that on top of an awareness of threats, Thailand must also create “Smart People” that have the expertise needed to contend with dangers and that its government must promote Big Data.
National Cyber Security Commission member Gen Banjerd Thiengthongdee remarked that cyber warfare can be destabilizing in a variety of ways from data breaches to financial scams or even blackmail. He said his commission was founded as a bulwark against such intrusions but encouraged individuals to learn to protect themselves against the ever changing threats to technology. He recommended people be more aware of the threats and equip themselves with quality software to reduce risks.
